Deep Freeze Grips Central Europe
Central Europe remains in the grip of an intense cold spell, with temperatures plunging to extreme lows.
The Czech Republic logged another nose-numbing low Thursday morning (following yesterday's) of -30.1C (-22.2F), one of the coldest readings ever recorded in the country. Slovenia followed with -19.4C (-2.9F). While Austria read -19.3C (-2.7F).
Meanwhile, Italy’s Conca Prevala, a sinkhole at 1,787 m (5,862 ft), tanked to an anomalous -27.4C (-17.3F).
Winter is set to persist for a while longer in these parts.
Long-Standing Records Fall Across America
The US is in the midst of another biting Arctic Outbreak, reportedly the tenth of the season. On Wednesday, a long list of locales shattered long-standing cold records.
Denver observed -7F (-21.7C), marking the coldest Feb 19 in the city's history.
