Greenland Gains
Greenland has just posted a daily ice gain exceeding 10 gigatons.
On Sunday (Dec 21), Danish Polar Portal data show snowfall dominating the interior and large parts of the south and east:
This is one of the largest daily gains in DMI data going back to 1981, and wakes up what had been a sluggish start to the season.
Blizzards And Ice Hit Russia’s Far East
A powerful snow cyclone has battered Russia’s Far East, slamming northern and eastern districts of Khabarovsk Krai with heavy snow, ice, and damaging winds.
The worst impacts were reported in the Nikolaevsk District, where roofs were ripped from seven residential buildings. Local authorities declared a state of emergency as infrastructure damage mounted and recovery operations began.
Further south, extreme icing has hit Primorsky Krai, with footage from Vladivostok showing streets, vehicles, and buildings encased:

This is shaping up as one of Yukon’s coldest Decembers on record.
