China knows what's coming. Global cooling. Their scientists have been warning about it for years.
Iraqi Desert Snow
Iraq and neighboring nations are shivering this week as an intense cold wave sweeps the Middle East and South Asia, bringing rare snows and record-breaking lows.
Snow is relatively common in Iraq’s northern mountains, but it is a rare sight in western and central parts.
This week, the central province of Anbar has seen its desert landscapes blanketed white, while southwestern Kirkuk has also seen heavy snowfall — two anomalies.
The extreme cold led to widespread school closures in multiple Iraqi provinces, including Kirkuk, Nineveh, Salah Al-Din, Najaf, Dhi Qar, Diwaniyah, and Muthanna, as well as Erbil, Dohuk, and Sulaymaniyah.
Temperatures have reached a rare -8.3C (17.1F) in Rabiah.
Middle East Freeze
Neighboring Iran, Saudi Arabia, Turkey are also feeling the freeze, as are nearby Israel and Cyprus.
