Warnings Issued In South Africa For Disruptive Cold And Snow
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued an Orange Level 6 warning for disruptive cold and snow which they say could result in loss of livestock and crops, and also see some communities being cutoff.
The Free State can expect "cold to extremely cold conditions" in its southern parts and along the Lesotho border. Similar conditions are forecast for KwaZulu-Natal, as well as Northern, Western and Eastern Cape.
Generally, snowfall is possible over high-lying areas, and it will feel much colder than thermometers say given the wind chills.
The high-level warning will run into Wednesday, so reads the SAWS report, which states: "The combination of very cold, wet and windy conditions may result in the loss of vulnerable livestock and crops."
The snow has already been coming down for many.

The depths have proved disruptive in other parts.
Heavy snow has been noted across the likes of Victoria Wes in the Northern Cape:
