Yakutia's Deep Freeze

Optimizing Asia's early-season freeze, Yakutia has been enduring overnight lows of -39C (-38.2F) this week.

By Friday, lows of -42C (-43.6F) are expected in the Republic's lowlands, which will see it join Verkhoyansk in this season’s ‘sub -40C club’.

As reported by hmn.ru, across Russia, this is an autumn marked by unusually early and intense freezes and heavy snowfall—the latter of which is aiding Northern Hemisphere snow mass, seeing it comfortably hold above 1982-2012 norms:
